At some point tomorrow we’ll be collecting the keys to our very first home…
So things will be pretty quiet around here for the next few weeks, but I’ll take lots of pictures and blog as soon as we have internet access and a spare minute ;-)

Seriously where did April go… oh yeah packing, a little more packing and packing again ;-)
This past month has gone by quicker than usual, there’s been so much to do and I think I’ve experienced every emotion there is! Buying a house is definitely more stressful than having a baby, and moving house with a baby feels all kinds of crazy, hence the almost abandoned blog.
It’s not all been madness though, we did manage to get away overnight a few weeks ago, in fact when Esme turned 4 months old {I keep meaning to write her 4 months post}. I organised a lovely stay at the gorgeous Coombe Abbey… it was heaven. We started the day with a trip to hoar park to see the chicks, ducklings and goats, had a nice Sunday lunch which Esme so kindly slept through so we could both eat, had a nice walk around the park, a cheeky glass of afternoon wine, and a delicious 3 course dinner with a little more wine to end a lovely day. Esme is such a good baby, she’s so content and taking her out and about is hardly ever an issue {I still worry sometimes though just in case she starts crying, especially in nice restaurants}, but she really was so very good the whole day, she slept lots {all the fresh air I think}, laughed lots and sat with us happily playing through 2 courses of the meal. She only got a little grumpy just as dessert arrived because it was getting towards bedtime. It amazes me just how quickly we’ve all adapted and fit right in to our little family and I treasure such happy, wonderful days.

We’ve been living with my parents for, well, longer than we originally anticipated while we saved for a house of our very own. Of course it’s been lovely spending time with my family; having lived away for quite a few years, it’s nice to see everyone more often and to hear about all the day to day stuff you miss out on when you live away.
But we can’t wait to move, and my parents are ready to have their house back and say goodbye to our cat Ralph who pretty much outstayed his welcome the day he starting scratching wallpaper… opps!
With Esme’s arrival and all the extra stuff it’s been a tight fit…

Now we’re packing everything up to move I’m amazed at how much we actually fit in one not particularly big room. But as you can see every bit of space was used. I guess when you have to make something work you do. It’ll be so nice to spread out a little in our first home.

Good luck with the move! After a week with my mother in law here I can understand how much you’re looking forward to your own space ;)
I’ve always travelled light… never one for a big bag unless its for a weekend away, I have the smallest coin purse ever, and even when we go on holiday it’s a medium sized suitcase and no other luggage. That was until Esme arrived…

Now a weekend anywhere involves packing the car with so much stuff you’d think we moved house every couple of weeks. I still only need one bag {OK plus my camera and laptop}, but still, above is just half of what seems to come with us.
Before Esme arrived I naively assumed it would just be an extra bag or two we’d need, ummm, I obviously didn’t factor in that we’d still need the steriliser and all the nappies and other changing stuff, never mind the clothes a baby can actually get through in a weekend. Since Pete works in the midlands every weekend and we’re currently based up-north Esme and I have been travelling down every few weeks or so to stay with Pete and his family. Which means we’ve been packing and unpacking our lives every few weeks or so, which takes it’s toll let me tell you! We were hoping we’d have moved long before now, but buying our first home has taken much longer than any of us would’ve liked. At last the end is in sight and hopefully we’ll be moving in just a few weeks… so now for the mammoth task of packing absolutely everything.
Remind me never to move again!

Happy Easter from us to you. Enjoy the long weekend!
Since Pete only got yesterday off from work it’s just Esme & I for the rest of the weekend so we’re planning on relaxing, playing with her new bunny from uncle Ian & aunty Nicola, seeing friends and catching up on snuggles :-)
